A snapshot of our puppy curriculum

Breeding is no joke!  We aren't just throwing 2 dogs together, having puppies, and then keeping them alive until they can go to their new homes.  I spent nearly 2 years learning everything I could about ethical breeding, genetics, whelping, puppy raising, and all the things before we ever had a litter of puppies.  There have been countless hours of sleep given up, showers missed, and meals forgotten.  As a family, we've sacrificed  holiday traditions that are 40 years old, trips, family events, and nights out.  Breeding is truly a labor of love.

I will continue to make those same sacrifices over and over again.  I do this because I believe this is a calling that God has placed on my life.  Do I fully understand His bigger picture?  No.  But I trust that if God led me to this, He will be faithful to carry me through it.  I do this because I have seen the power dogs have to change peoples' lives for the better.  I do this to hear things like a husband say to his wife that he hasn't seen her so at peace as she was snuggling their new puppy since her mother died.  I do this to see a man under immense pressure and stress light up and smile ear to ear the second he holds a puppy in his arms and watch that stress momentarily melt away.  I do this for the child who struggles with developmental delays that needs a dog in his life to help relieve discomfort in his own body and mind.  I do this so the high school counselor has a therapy dog to take to her office because she has seen the power a dog has with her students.  All of these things far outweigh the sacrifices that we make in our own lives.  Do I love every single second of it? No.  You should see the insane amount of poop I deal with daily! Lol.  But, I love these dogs, the families who adopt them, and the heart healing work that they are doing in the lives of others.  So I'll keep sacrificing in order to produce and raise the best puppies I can because this is the lifestyle I chose and I love it!
